CATAP Event List TAG SYSTEM
The TAG SYSTEM in the CATAP event list allows users to easily filter events based on specific topics or categories. This makes it simple for visitors to find events that match their interests.
How It’s Set Up:
-
Each Event Has Tags
All events are loaded from a data file behind the scenes. Each event includes important info like title, date, and tags such as “When,” “Where,” “Time,” or, “Type.” -
Tags Are Predefined
We set up a master list of tags, so everything stays consistent. You won’t have to manually type in new tags each time – just pick from the existing ones. -
Works Automatically
As new events are added and tagged, the filter system updates automatically. No extra setup is needed once the tags are assigned. -
Icons for Event Type (Location vs. Google Meet)
Each event automatically displays an icon depending on how the location is defined:
Physical Location: If the event has a street address or venue, a location pin icon is shown.
Online (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype): If the event includes a Google Meet link or similar, a video camera icon is shown. This happens automatically based on the event data — no extra tagging is required.
- Location Formatting
If an event’s location uses a semicolon ( ; ) (e.g., Calgary; AB), it’s automatically converted to use a comma ( , ) (e.g., Calgary, AB) in the display.
This avoids issues with the data system, which doesn’t allow commas in the original entry. - Date Formatting
In the backend, dates are entered as MM-DD-YYYY (e.g., 03-25-2025)
On the website, they’re automatically reformatted to a friendlier style:
→ March 25, 2025
